As the files are MPO format I believe the LG 3D sets can cope with them, Samsung can’t, not too sure about any others although I think with a recent PS3 firmware update you can view them through that.

Apple may potentially distribute the FaceTime as an open framework which will mean other devices (hello Mr Gates?) may soon be able to make and receive FaceTime calls to and from Mac’s, iPhones and iPod Touch devices.

Sony have announced “Playstation Plus” a premium package over and above the current free one.

This will apparently give you access to games, add ons, avatars and dynamic themes at no extra cost.
On top of this there will be discounts each month and access to beta trials and demos before anyone else.

This membership will also give you access to a real nifty feature that allows you to try before you buy. You can download selected games in full and play them for a limited period of time before you decide to buy the title. If you do decide to purchase you get to keep any trophies earned during the trial.

Another feature (that should be available anyway) is the ability to auto download game and system updates so that its all ready to go the next time you play.

For the past few days I have been enjoying some of the matches in glorious 3D, its just a shame that it doesn’t make certain teams play any better e.g. Australia. I have to say though the quality of the 3D has certainly improved since the first game I watched from Foxtel, but then I guess Fifa have the money to spend!

Leading on from this, I noticed in the very first match some kind of buzzing sound coming from the TV, I thought its a brand new TV it can’t be failing already! I was right it wasn’t it was the sound of 100′s if not 1000′s of Vuvuzela’s being blown during the England Vs USA game. This went on the whole match, I know it was annoying for me not being able to hear the commentary or the crowd and Sepp Blatter has pretty much stated he won’t request a ban of the device.

So what can we do? Well check out the following anti Vuvuzela filter, it costs 2.95 Euros but it might be worth it! Click Here

For those of you that want to watch the World Cup in 3D, here is the 3D programming schedule from SBS, this will utilise the same channel that Channel 9 is using for the State or Origin series;

For those of you that haven’t been keeping an eye on the WWDC conference, Apple have announced the latest iPhone.

And funnily enough it looks like the one lost in a bar earlier in the year!

The new iPhone is released for pre-order 15th June in the US, France, Germany, Japan and the UK and comes in 16 and 32GB variants. It will be available from June 24th in those territories.
It will be available by the end of July in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Foxtel are broadcasting the French open finals in 3D tonight, on channel 200 at 10:45pm for IQ2 and Mystar HD owners.

James Cameron has admitted they are going to be working on a 3D version of Titanic.
This is to be released in 2012 which is 100 years since the sinking of the great ship.

Not sure what the quality is like but as you will agree the price is great.

Yes, we did…after much deliberation we purchased a Samsung 3D TV our good friends at JB Macquarie informed us all 3D sets are cross compatible so we shouldn’t have PS3 issues.

I blame my wife…she wanted to watch “The State of Origin” in 3D, do I need anymore of an excuse?

A quick talk about the set (Samsung UA46C7000), this is a great 2D set on its own with such features as PVR capability, Internet@TV, Media sharing, Media playback amongst others.

One quite neat feature that doesn’t seem to get mentioned much is the backlit remote control – very useful when watching 3D movies in the dark to get the best effect.

The 2D- 3D capability seems to do a reasonable job of converting standard TV and content to 3D, be careful what you watch though, as sometimes you may get a surprise.

Anyway onto this weeks content, we had 2 broadcasts to watch, Monday night we had Fox Sports 3D – Soccerroos Vs All Whites and then Channel 9 with “State of Origin” on Wednesday.

They were both very good broadcasts giving extra depth to the games but I have to say the better broadcast was Channel 9′s. It was almost as if they had spent longer preparing for the broadcast to get it right.

At the start when Ken Suttcliffe hands the viewers the ball to the final moments of the broadcast you get the feeling of being there and involved in the game.
The camera angles seemed to be just right, compared to the Fox broadcast where the most exciting part was when Seaguls took to the sky! – could it just be that the soccer game was dull?

I am so looking forward to the next game in the “Origin” series, even if the Blues lose again! – well sort of.

If this is the level of content we can expect from FTA channels I can’t wait for more, there is talk about Channel 7 Broadcasting the AFL grand final, Bathhurst & Australian Open in 3D…bring it on I say.

Foxtel need to spend a bit more time on getting the angles and depth correct instead of trying to be the first, still good effort.

So Bravo Channel 9, keep it up!

Well it looks as if the pay TV operator “Foxtel” have jumped on the 3D bandwagon, they are going to broadcast the Soccerroos last game before the Fifa World cup. That is of course if you are an IQ2 or Ausstar Mystar HD subscriber (not sure about apartment buildings with the lite service) & have a 3D TV!

This is going to be running on a special channel “200″ which will be titled “Fox Sports 3D”.

Looks like my credit card may get a battering this weekend!

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) have granted Channel 9 and SBS temporary 3D broadcasting licences between 19th May and 19th July.

These licences are for “scientific trials of 3D TV”, funnily enough both the “State of Origin” and the “Fifa World Cup” Fall into this timeframe, how lucky is that?

So anyone with a 3D capable set in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle or Woollongong will be able to watch “whatever?” is broadcast in 3D by 9 or SBS during this 2 month trial.

Obviously retailers make use this period to push 3D TV sets, and why not?

Aussie customers are lucky that they are able to choose between both the Wi-Fi only model and the 3G models from the beginning. In fact, pre-orders for the device started Monday 10th May on the Apple Australia website. Although it has come to light today that if you haven’t pre-ordered by now, you will have to wait until June 7 to receive your iPad.

The many features and shortfalls of the iPad have been well documented since it’s announcement by Steve Jobs earlier this year. By now, those who have been able to justify why they should buy one know that they will be buying one. It’s not a case anymore of “Do I buy one or not?” but more a case of “Do I get the Wi-Fi model or the 3G model?”

If you do want to use the internet while you are out and about then you may have a case for the 3G model, however there may be a way to do the same thing with the Wi-Fi only model and save yourself almost $180 in the process. This method involves purchasing a portable Wi-Fi broadband modem. The beauty of this is that it doesn’t limit you to just using it with your iPad. You would effectively be carrying around a Wi-Fi hotspot with you that you can connect your iPad to along with your mobile phone, your laptop and any other device that has Wi-Fi connectivity. These are available from most major Australian telcos in some form. They will be collated and listed in a future post on this website.

This post aims to gather all the announced iPad specific data plans from Australian telcos and ISP’s into one place to make it easy to figure out what plan is best for you. The data below will be updated as new data comes to hand or existing plans change.

BFBC2 has sold of 5 Million units also, co-operative gameplay is coming to the game. The onslaught pack which is to be released soon for XBOX and PS3 will allow you and 3 mates to play together against the enemy on Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay Maps.

These have apparently been redesigned with new lighting, time of day, extra vehicles + other effects.
Each map requires different levels of teamwork e.g. vehicles are of major significance in Atacama whereas Nelson Bay focuses on infantry.

Apparently players can compete in squads and check on each other via onslaught leaderboards.
